Dr. Amber Roberts

With great excitement, Dr. Amber Roberts begins her role as the new principal of Holston Middle School. She brings over 27 years of experience in education, beginning as an 8th grade teacher in Henry County, Georgia, before serving as an assistant principal at Oak Ridge High School for 13 years and at Hardin Valley Academy for 3 years.

Dr. Roberts holds degrees from Agnes Scott College, the University of West Georgia, Lincoln Memorial University, and a doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Strategic Change from Lipscomb University. She is passionate about creating a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Outside of school, she enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and spending time on the water. She and her husband, Dr. John Roberts, have been married for 10 years, and she is the proud stepmother of five children. Their family also includes a spirited black Labrador named Gertrude.

Dr. Roberts looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to make this school year one of growth and success.

Jim Wolfenbarger

Jim Wolfenbarger serves as the 6th Grade Assistant Principal at Holston Middle School, where he is dedicated to supporting students as they grow both academically and socially. He encourages students to get involved, embrace new opportunities, and enjoy their middle school experience, reminding them that administrators, counselors, and teachers are always here to help.

Mr. Wolfenbarger began his career teaching 8th grade Language Arts at South-Doyle Middle School, where he also served as Department Chair and Team Leader from 1998 to 2008. He then transitioned into administration, working as an assistant principal at Green Magnet Math and Science Academy for five years before joining Holston in 2013.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Henderson State University, an Associate of Arts from Rich Mountain Community College, and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.

Mr. Wolfenbarger looks forward to another successful year with Holston’s students and families. “Have a wonderful year—and don’t forget to have fun!”

Allison Mullins

Allison Mullins is the 7th Grade Assistant Principal at Holston Middle School, a place she has called home as a student, teacher, parent, and now administrator. Over her career, she has taught all three grade levels, served as team leader, ELA department chair, TAP mentor teacher, summer school principal, and cheer coach, later working as an instructional coach at Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy before returning to Holston in leadership.

She holds degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Lincoln Memorial University, with a focus on education, reading, and leadership.

Outside of school, Mrs. Mullins and her husband enjoy spending time with their three grown children, three grandchildren, and church family, where they have taught Sunday School for over a decade. She is passionate about encouraging, mentoring, and supporting both students and teachers at Holston.

Darrian Jefferson

Darrian Jefferson serves as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal at Holston Middle School. Before joining the Holston community, she spent eleven years at Fulton High School teaching Social Studies and serving as Department Chair and Lead Teacher. These roles deepened her passion for supporting students as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally in preparation for high school.

Mrs. Jefferson earned both her Bachelor’s degree in History and her Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and later completed her Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership at Lincoln Memorial University.

She and her husband, Chris, who teaches Social Studies at Gibbs High School, share their home with two retired racing greyhounds, Teal and Maci. Outside of school, she enjoys cheering on the Vols, reading, traveling, spending time on the lake, and being with family and friends.

Mrs. Jefferson is excited for the year ahead and looks forward to helping Holston’s 8th graders succeed in their final middle school year.
