In March, Holston Middle School submitted a School Technology Challenge application that defined utilizing 1:1 technology to enhance instruction. We became a finalist for this initiative and presented our implementation plan and vision of a Personalized Learning Environment. On April 5 th, Dr. McIntyre announced that Holston Middle School was awarded the technology to help make this dream a reality.
Holston envisions a dramatic paradigm shift for the classroom incorporating technologically enhance Personalized Learning Environment. Students will be taught by highly effective teachers focused on leading the way for 1:1 technology integration into all aspects of the classroom. The roles of both teachers and students will change. Instead of a direct instructional model, Holston Middle School will move toward a more collaborative classroom model requiring teachers to become facilitators and students to be active learners. We are excited about this opportunity that will enable, empower, and engage ALL students.
